Name: Lucie Rothauer
BIU job title: Prevention Manager

Lucie, who is Austrian, has long experience of sport and of interacting with athletes, both as an elite athlete herself, and then as an administrator. Her role at the BIU involves overseeing Education, Safeguarding and Communications functions, as well as Anti-Doping Coordination

Her specific expertise is Anti-Doping, and her work in the field includes cooperation with NADOs, laboratories, WADA and other Anti-Doping stakeholders. This work is facilitated by her ability to speak four languages fluently: English, German, Swedish and Czech.

Previously she worked on both of Salzburg’s bids to host the Winter Olympic Games, in 2010 and 2014, and before that she worked for Fischer, the well-known Austrian ski brand.

As an athlete, Lucie was world champion in the sport of Orienteering. She also practises Alpine Skiing, Ski Mountaineering and Cross-Country Skiing. Lucie holds a Masters in Geography and, at IBU events, is most likely to be found at the Doping Control Station, at the start / finish area or at the Family Club.


 
Name: Sarah Dentry
BIU role: Intelligence and Research Officer

Polar explorer, mountaineer, skier, archer and biathlete, Canada’s Dr Sarah Dentry leads intelligence projects on behalf of the BIU, and designs intelligence capabilities to support integrity and safe sport within biathlon. 

This involves conducting research and building in-house capabilities for high-quality analytical outputs. A post-doctoral Fellow of Human Performance in the fields of Kinesiology, Neurobiology, and Psychoneuroendocrinology, Sarah was previously an executive board member of Biathlon Canada. She was also a military intelligence operator with Canadian armed forces and a lead intelligence analyst in anti-fraud operations. 

Sarah has a PhD in Psychology and International Security Studies, a Masters degree in Intelligence and International Security and has undertaken military courses in Intelligence Operations.

She started skiing downhill and cross-country when she was two years old and competed in Biathlon from the age of 10 until she was 22 years old.

Sarah has also completed two polar expeditions, skiing to the North Pole and climbing the highest mountain in Antarctica, while conducting research on human performance and reactions to stress/challenge.

In the summer she enjoys running every day, as well as Canoeing, Camping, Hiking, and Biking.


 
Name: Katharina Gatterer
BIU job title: Safeguarding and Education Officer

Katharina, who is Italian, provides information and education in relation to integrity-related issues to all stakeholders, including athletes, athlete support personnel and National Federations, on behalf of the BIU.

She also acts as the first point of contact in all Safeguarding matters.

Previously, Katharina was a senior university scientist, with experience in anti-doping research, focusing on doping prevention for adolescent elite athletes, as well as the evaluation of doping prevention programmes. Katharina holds a Masters degree in Physical Education and English (Secondary School Teacher Training) and has completed a PhD in ‘Sports Medicine, Alpine Medicine and Health Tourism’, in which her thesis focused on the status quo and the perception of anti-doping prevention of young elite athletes competing in the Youth Olympic Games and European Youth Olympic Festival.

At IBU events she is most likely to be found at educational booths or seminars, and her own sporting interests include Soccer, Cycling (Road and MTB) and Ski Mountaineering.


 
Name: Lucas Harrati
BIU job title: Unit Lawyer

Contact: lucas.harrati@biathlonintegrity.com

Lucas is responsible for handling Whereabouts failures cases, along with regulatory and governance matters, in consultation with the Head of the BIU. He also gives legal advice on various others matters.

A French national, he was previously Ad Hoc Clerk at the International Paralympic Committee and a Research Assistant at the University of Montreal.

He qualified at the Quebec Bar in 2022, having taken a LL.M in International Law at the University of Montreal in 2021 and a licence en droit (the equivalent of an LL.B) at Université Toulouse I-Capitole in 2018.

In his spare time, Lucas is a marathon runner.
